At the oil complex of TANECO JSC (part of Tatneft (MCX:TATN)), the second stage of the aromatic hydrocarbon complex (KPA-2) was launched on Saturday in the integrated testing mode, the press service of Tatneft reported.

«The new units will increase the production of benzene to 60,000 tons per year, as well as master the production of 150,000 tons of paraxylene per year. These products are planned to be used as raw materials for petrochemicals at the new production facilities of the Tatneft Group,» the press release says. .

The aromatics production complex consists of eight units that have been put into operation in stages since 2018.

Tatneft is going deeper and deeper into the petrochemical industry — not only extracting oil, not only refining — this is a very serious and meaningful step. The resulting paraxylene will allow us to launch projects for the production of terephthalic acid and polyethylene terephthalate, which is currently imported,» Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, head of the board of directors of Tatneft, said at the summing up of the implementation of the TANECO project in 2022.

Minnikhanov noted that since the launch of TANECO, over 109 million tons of crude oil have been processed, and to date, the volume of investments in the construction of the oil complex has amounted to 528.5 billion rubles.

For his part, TANECO General Director Ilshat Salakhov said that the commissioning of new technological facilities — 15 technological units over the past two years — made it possible to achieve a processing volume of 16.2 million tons per year in 2022 while maintaining the yield of light oil products at the level 82% and processing depth 99.2%.

According to the press service of the head of the region, the commissioning of new technological facilities and an increase in the efficiency of existing plants have increased the potential for the production of premium motor gasoline up to 2.3 million tons per year, diesel fuel — 8.4 million tons per year, aviation fuel — 600 thousand tons per year. tons per year, base oils — 279 thousand tons per year.

«The tasks in 2023 are to ensure industrial and environmental safety of production, ensure the high quality of products, improve performance and processing efficiency, import substitution of equipment, catalysts, additives and reagents, as well as reduce the environmental impact index. In addition, it is planned to continue implementing projects and put new installations into operation,» the website of the President of Tatarstan said in a statement.

The TANECO development plan is designed until 2026 and provides for the launch of units to increase the volume of oil refining and the range of products.

JSC TANECO is a 100% subsidiary of Tatneft. The oil complex was commissioned in 2011. Currently, TANECO operates 29 units.
